A new Sainsbury’s food store will be developed on site, including 60,000 sq ft of sales space, 600 car parking spaces and up to 350 jobs for the local community.
Shepherd Construction is the main contractor for the food store. They started on site in December 2012 and the store is targeted to open by summer 2014.

Sainsbury’s enjoys being a part of the local community and works with local groups and charities. Each store has a nominated Charity of the Year chosen by colleagues, which they support by fundraising, donations and promoting the charity.

The store will create up to 350 new jobs for Blackpool. It is important that the people which we employ represent the communities that they serve and are passionate about their local area. Typically the majority of our colleagues live within 1.5 miles of the store they work in.
All of our colleagues are offered the opportunity to earn a nationally recognised qualification. By 2020, we will create 50,000 new job opportunities in the UK and at least half of our colleagues will have received externally accredited training.

Recruitment for the Talbot Gateway store will begin around three months before the store is due to open. Job opportunities will be advertised on the Sainsburys.jobs website and via the Job Centre Plus.
